First Things First

One mom's search for it all...
I love to read books about family life; everything from parenting, marriage, homemaking, human development, family relationships, you name it, is of interest to me. There is one problem however. How do you know if the information is useful, science based, or just plain good? There is an enormous amount of information produced by those in the field of family science. After reading many books on these topics I decided that not all the information was helpful, valid, and sometimes not even ethical. My attempt here is to sift through this information and recommend books, websites, and other materials that I have found to be invaluable in parenting my growing family. Most of these I have reviewed based on the recommendations of others. Who knows what a mom needs better than another mom?

Why Me?
Again, this is my passion. If there is an easier, smarter, or better way to be a mom I want to know about it. I am by no means an expert. I do have a bachelor's degree in marriage, family, and human development from Brigham Young University and I am a Certified Provisional Family Life Educator, but most importantly I am a fultime mother of four wonderful children. This is a personal quest, but I am making it available to others in hopes that it will benefit many.

What to Expect
I will feature books that I have read plus websites and other materieals that are useful resources for families. Each will include a brief synopsis along with what I liked or did not like. I will try to keep up with popular titles and those featuring the newest parenting trends. I welcome your recommendations.
